Design of Two 60-Unit Apartment Building
RVI completed the comprehensive design for two 60-unit apartment buildings, including site services coordination (gas, water, sanitary, and hydro). This encompassed HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, gas piping, power distribution, fire alarm systems, lighting, power, and life safety systems. We also coordinated with local utilities for common trench requirements and contestable work design.
St. Joseph’s General Hospital Elliot Lake ICIP Project
New General Ventilation System Design
This project involved designing a new general ventilation system with enhanced filtration and energy recovery for the 32-bed long-term care wing. Our services included designing new units to replace the existing ones, confirming structural support, designing new humidification systems, control systems, and commissioning.
Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nations Education Centre
HVAC, Lighting, Fire Alarm and Life Safety Design
Our project for Lac Des Mille Lacs First Nations School involved designing new HVAC, lighting, fire alarm, and life safety requirements for Balmoral Rd School upgrades, as well as pre-designing a new 21,000sqft facility addition.

Retrofit of a High School to Condominiums
This project involved retrofitting an existing high school into 102 condominiums. We upgraded the domestic water and fire service lines, and provided full HVAC, sanitary, potable water, corridor pressurization, gas, and control systems for the retrofitted building.

RAINY RIVER HEALTH CENTRE HVAC UPGRADES
Upgrades to Central Air Conditioning System
Our project at the Rainy River Health Centre involved upgrading the central air conditioning system. We designed and specified new split DX air conditioning units, evaporator coils, refrigerant piping, and a direct digital control system, significantly enhancing the facility’s climate control capabilities.
MAJOR HVAC UPGRADES FOR ST. JOSEPH’S HOSPITAL IN ELLIOT LAKE, ON
Upgrades to Central Air Handling and Ventilation Systems
We conducted major HVAC upgrades at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Elliot Lake, focusing on the central air handling unit systems, operating room, and Labour & Delivery ventilation systems. Our design also included modifications to the hot water heating and chilled water systems, ensuring optimal operation and patient comfort.
AIR CONDITIONING UPGRADE FOR EMO HEALTH CENTRE, EMO, ONTARIO
Design and Commissioning of New Air Conditioning System
Our project for the Emo Health Centre involved the design and commissioning of a new 30-ton split air-conditioning system. We provided comprehensive commissioning services to ensure the system was installed and functioned in line with the Owner’s Project Requirements.
NET ZERO ENERGY READY (NZER) FEASIBILITY STUDY & DESIGN FOR A 41 UNIT SENIORS APARTMENT BUILDING IN DRYDEN, ONTARIO
Net Zero Building Design
Our team conducted a comprehensive NZER feasibility study and design for a 41-unit seniors apartment building in Dryden, Ontario. The project featured a ground-breaking net zero building design, which included a horizontally drilled ground source heat exchanger, a high-efficiency dual core heat recovery ventilator, and a water source variable refrigerant flow (VRF) system.
THUNDER BAY CITY HALL HUMIDIFICATION UPGRADES
Design and Specification of Gas Fired Humidification Units
We were tasked with designing and specifying gas-fired humidification units for Thunder Bay City Hall. Our role involved completing humidification load calculations to accurately size units to suit existing air handling unit capacities, as well as designing the steam distribution system and associated controls and safeties.
ATIKOKAN GENERAL HOSPITAL LONG TERM CARE WING HVAC UPGRADES
Complete HVAC System Overhaul
Our project at Atikokan General Hospital involved a comprehensive upgrade of the HVAC systems in the Long Term Care wing. This included designing and specifying a new medical grade air handling unit, a variable volume air system with pressure-independent terminal units, and a new building automation control system. We also managed procurement, project management, and contract administration.
RAINYCREST LONG TERM CARE SPRINKLER SYSTEM & AIR CONDITIONING RETROFIT
Design and Project Management for System Retrofit
We were responsible for the design, specification, procurement, and project management of both a sprinkler system retrofit and an air conditioning retrofit at Rainycrest Long Term Care, a 132-bed facility. The air conditioning system upgrade included multi-zone heat pumps with indoor units featuring ‘wind-free’ technology for enhanced resident comfort.
ST. JOSEPH’S CARE GROUP, BETHAMMI NURSING HOME AIR CONDITIONING RETROFIT
Air Conditioning System Retrofit
Our project for St. Joseph’s Care Group involved an air-conditioning retrofit for Bethammi Nursing Home. We designed and specified 30-ton split air-conditioning units, retro-fit DX cooling coils, refrigerant piping, terminal units, and controls, ensuring a comfortable environment for residents.
KENORA DISTRICT SOCIAL SERVICES BOARD TEN-UNIT TRANSITIONAL HOUSING FACILITY
Complete HVAC and Plumbing Design
We provided the full HVAC and plumbing design for a new ten-unit transitional housing facility in Red Lake, ON. Our high-efficiency design included variable refrigerant flow air source heat pumps, radiant heating, demand-controlled ventilation, and efficient direct digital controls
CONFEDERATION COLLEGE HVAC UPGRADES
Design of New Air Conditioning Units
Our involvement with Confederation College entailed designing and specifying new split digital scroll air conditioning units, DX evaporator coils, and associated controls, enhancing the college’s environmental comfort and efficiency.
NIPIGON ARENA HEATING CONVERSION AND MISCELLANEOUS HVAC UPGRADES
Energy Audit and Heating Conversion Project
For the Nipigon Arena, we completed an energy audit and a heating conversion from mid-efficient gas furnaces to a high-efficiency condensing boiler plant consisting of six boilers. The project also included kitchen ventilation upgrades with a new NFPA 96 compliant range hood, make-up air unit, and demand-controlled ventilation.
